Supervisory Park Ranger (I)

This position reports to the Superintendent of Organ Pipe cactus National Monument. The incumbent in this position serves as the Chief of Interpretation, Education, and Community Engagement and manages the park's Fee Program. The position serves as a key member of the management team, fully participating in decision making, planning, programming, and management of park operations. The incumbent is in charge and directly responsible for the management and operation of the primary programs listed above to include the long and shortrange plans and fiscal management in the incumbent's filed of responsibility. Additionally, serves as the park public information officer (PIO) and manages the commercial use program. This is a National Park Service (NPS) uniformed position. Provides technical and direct supervision to a permanent staff of one GS-0025-11 Supervisory Park Ranger (I), and one GS-0303-05 Visitor Use Assistant, and indirectly supervises one permanent GS-0090-05 Park Guide, and 6-9 seasonal GS-0025-05 Park Rangers (I), along with numerous divisional interns and volunteers. Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is located in the Sonoran Desert in Southwestern Arizona. Park headquarters is 34 miles south of Ajo, Arizona and 5 miles north of the international boundary with Mexico. Organ Pipe is a winter paradise and a surprisingly lush and green environment. Daytime temperatures typically range from the 60's in the winter to over 100 in the summer, with dramatic monsoons later in the summer. The local towns and communities provide multiple amenities and a thriving Art's community that allow families and individuals to easily adjust to living in the desert. In Ajo (population 3,500) you will find a few local restaurants and coffee shops, a grocery and hardware store, a medical clinic, multiple churches, a public library, a county park with playground, swimming pool, ball parks and community center, and an active Park and Recreation Department, a K-12 school system, several active community organizations who sponsor events and festivals on a regular basis including a weekly Farmers Market. Phoenix, AZ is a 1.5 hour drive north from Ajo; Tucson is 2.0 hour drive east from Ajo. Both cities offer a greater selection of amenities. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualification by close of the announcement:
Experience:
At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following:
1) supervising a park interpretive program; 2) serving as a lead interpretive ranger, environmental educator or teacher in a park, recreation, or conservation area; 3) management or program specialist work involving the development and/or implementation of policy related to the interpretation or management of park areas or similar operations; or other similar work. Experience:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
